My Thoughts on iPhone 4.
Meets Expectations as an Incredible new iDevice…but Fails as a Phone?
My iPhone 4 is totally sweet. The new look and additions to iOS 4 are wonderful. Getting ATT to activate it on my line was a bit of a pain, but it was expected, and the last associate I finally spoke to was a true professional and did the job.
Everything was great until I tried to use it as a phone. My second call ever, was dropped. The best way to use the phone, it appears, is on FaceTime because the signal switches to WiFi. My First FaceTime experience was excellent and I enjoy using it more than Skype or iChat on my MacBook Pro. The camera is set up perfectly and switching between the “iSight” and main lens is flawless. The quality of video and audio is very good.
Your skin, especially when balmy, apparently contacts with the casing around the iPhone which is the cell antenna, and decreases the signal quality. Others have reported this, and I can confirm: When holding iPhone 4 in your left hand or against your ear, your “bars” decrease and it is possible that this can cause “Call Failed” messages. This is a pretty big glitch, and here’s hoping a software update could do something to band-aid this hardware flaw.
The interaction that I have had with my device is limited as I have only had it a few hours, but I am well-satisfied with the overall appearance and feel, although it is a bit heavier feeling than the 3Gs. I see that it could also become a bit uncomfortable in the hand over time because of the sharp edges. The bumpers may ease this discomfort, however they detract from the appearance. I am sure a good case solution will soon be invented.
I like how it lays flat on a surface and doesn’t rock .The previous two incarnations were notorious for moving when vibrating (My early-bootrom 3Gs vibrated itself off a countertop and shattered). The camera setup on this device is truly incredible. The Flash and Camera management works very well and the Video quality is outstanding.
iOS 4 is tuning out to be very satisfying. The app switching bar satisfies my addiction to infinidock. The improvement in battery life also seems to be significant.
I actually became anxious when I was switching my service to the new sim, knowing I was giving up the Jailbreak and lots of Apps, for the time being, but it turns out I can live happily with an unjailbroken iPhone 4. I will patiently wait a release.
I plan to soon review case options for the iPhone 4 and appreciate any input on this from our readers.

So is there a quick reply txt or what?! I’m really surprised that no one has said anything. I’m a jailbreaker so I have Bite SMS. Can’t live without it. It’s really the only reason I jailbreak. The rest is just a bonus. Albiet a great bonus!!
I wonder if they’ll do something about the antenna before they ship the white ones or just go ahead and send em out. I may keep the service on my 3GS, use it for a phone and use the 4 for EVERTHING ELSE! including FaceTime,Skype,etc… Stop beating a dead horse. I’m sure it will be fixed on the next model.
David, Quick reply is also one of my most desired functions. Well it is better in iOS 4… “messages” is always running so double tap home and hit messages, respond, and then go right back to what you were doing. Still have to leave your app but it is better than before. and it’s very fast.

Is it just me, or are none of your images loading?
Images not loading because they are hosted by iYoshiblog. iYoshiblog got hit so hard this month that we are currently experiencing shutdown, due to exceeding our bandwidth. I assure everyone that this problem is being worked on very hard and will be back up, stronger than ever! soon!

I ordered it on-line on 6/9 and so they preserve telling me it is going to ship this Wednesday 6/30. Fingers crossed that it does this waiting is killing me!
