Is Apple’s response to signal losses good enough?

Let’s face it. If you read jailbreaknews then you’ve heard about the problem where holding the iPhone in a certain way drops the calls. Chances are it short circuits the antenna, losing signal. Job’s response?

“Just avoid holding it in that way”

Now, you see, the fanboys have rallied behind Jobs on this, saying that holding the iPhone in the bottom left is stupid. I couldn’t disagree more. . If I am shelling out $$$$$$ for an expensive device I want it to work no matter how I hold it. Apple’s response to this is frankly stupid. Please don’t tell me how to hold a device apple.

Also, chances are apple knew about the problem. They’ve pushed the bumpers (which solve the issue) pretty hard. Or am I just being cynical? There are also reports of yellowing screens and inversed volume keys. Did apple rush to get this phone out in time?

However, there is a rumour that apple will be releasing ios 4.0.1 soon that will fix this issue, although that hasn’t been confirmed yet.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments. Or you can email me at greg (at) jailbreaknews (dot) com

Apple’s response or should I say Job’s response is total bullcrap and a big arrogant F.U! to people who have the nerve to point out a flaw in his precious idevice. He released a defective product plain and simple and along with the Apple fanboys is to proud to admit it.

Apple most certainly knew there was an issue holding the phone BEFORE they released it, thus the bumper case at launch.

But what do you expect from someone who says an 8g 2nd gen iPod touch/iPhone 3G can’t handle wallpaper. Really? cause my jailbroken 1st gen iPod touch can handle wallpaper just fine and so much more.

  2. I couldn’t agree more. I dnt believe all jobs has to say was not to hold the phone like that. It’s crazy. It’s not that we are trying to hold the phone to block the signals or something , it’s a common way to hold any phone from what I could see on JBN. I bet jobs already knew it, may be he realized it too late to make changes. Still that response is total crap atleast he should have mentioned that or offered to fix it on next models n give free upgrades !!!

  3. Honestly, they had to know about before launch. They Probobly didn’t have the time to redesign it, so that’s what your stuck with. But really, it’d the price you pay for buying it at launch. Obviously they rushed it, because the retina screens are having issues too. All we can do is hope the 4.0.1 will fix it. I am no way taking apples side because I have the iPod 2g mc. That’s the only on right now that can’t so multitasking except the iPod 1g but that’s a dinosaur. Apple needs to send a case to every single person who bought the iPhone 4 regerdless if they fix the problem

Just an update, apple is doing free cases for iPhone 4 users. This being said, VERY few < .5% of iPhone 4 users are having signal issues. The rest are just grabbing for whatever they can get for free.
