iOS 4.1 beta available worldwide : What’s new !

As most of your already know, Apple has just pushed out the beta version of iOS 4.1 along with SDK to developers.

Previously rumored as coming and then confirmed by Apple itself via an official press release, iOS 4.1 promised that all important fix for the iPhone 4′s “Death Grip” issue.

iOS 4.1 beta should only be installed on devices dedicated exclusively for iOS 4.1 beta testing. Do not install this software if you do not have a device dedicated exclusively for iOS 4.1 beta testing.

Here’s what we could dig so far from the beta release :

Size : 595 MB for iPhone 4 & 383 MB for iPhone 3GS.

Note : iPhone 4 has greater sized firmware due to it’s Retina display which uses higher resolution.

Build no. 8B5080c
Baseband has been updated to 02.07.01 from 01.59.00
Signal bars are taller than before.

Reportedly does NOT fix the reception issue known as “Death Grip”.
Camera Switch and Flash buttons reposition in landscape mode.
Spell Check can be turned off in Settings.

We have also heard that there will be a iOS 4.0.1 release, however iOS 4.1 has some “incredible new features” which are not yet present in the developer builds released today.
Game Center has been added with a new look.
iOS 4.1 may now include the ability for developers to directly modify media metadata.
‘Favorites’ in the Phone app can now be added as Voice or FaceTime.
