Geohot jailbreaks iPhone 4
He’s been off the map for quite a while. Of course, we’re talking about George Hotz.
After months of silence, Geohot has finally published a new blog post in which he talks about iPhone 4 jailbreak situation, limera1n, and Pwned4life exploit which he recently talked about at the Nuit Du Hack conference in Paris. According to his latest blog post, Geohot has managed to jailbreak the iPhone 4.
Got one of these in the mail today and figured I’d give it a shot.
As far as a release goes, it probably won’t happen from me. limera1n is little more than a raindrop on a website; it was never mentioned by me previous to this post. pwned4life is a complete invention of some blogger in a basement somewhere. When I said pwned for life, I was referring to the original iPhone, 3G, and Touch; which of course are, by the aptly named PwnageTool.
As for the release dates, it probably wont happen from him. Comex’s Spirit like jailbreak tool is still the most likely candidate for the release, which will probably happen once Apple rolls out the new iOS 4.0.1 /4.1 firmware update for iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G.

I knew he wouldnt try to jailbreak the iPhone 4. I think he’s gonna wait for either 4.1 or the new iPhone to come out when AT&T brings 4G capabilities.
I’m so sick of these reports of jailbreaks with all of them refusing to release them. Stop reporting them unless they are going to be released.

you could be right but I don’t think Geohot would mess around like that, even though i do admit that was my initial thought. I havent got an iPhone 4 and I don’t want one so I’m just waiting for a jailbreak for 3GS 
I totally agree with another post, stop reporting on “jailbreaks” that are not being released. I’d much rather read about jailbroken app reviews.

Geohot is awsome. His jailbreak is simple and fast. The only jailbreak I trust, even if it means waitin a lil bit longer. I got nothing but time….
I would like to wait a long time for a jailbreak like spirit cuz that was so easy and first class all the way. Geohot is good to but if it is another blackra1n that was tethered that would be a problem. Comex’s Spirit was perfection. And I don’t think Geohot will make another one for a long time, at least till the others get tired and get broke. Then Geohot will make a great one.

Comex was saying “look, it’s possible but not releasable it it’s current form.” Geo on the other hand was exactly saying, “look what I can do that you can’t.” oh and at the end of his post he basically said, “I hate all of you for your stupid questions.” what a super swell human being!

@George Jorge since they have the jailbreak they have the power. And I would have to say that none of us (I assume) are either patient enough or smart enough we are forced to wait. And we need comex or geohot to jailbreak so we can then use a custom firmware for future jailbreaks with Redsn0w or others.
So what I’m saying is what can we do about it? Nothing. So all we can do is wait till 4.0.1 for comex’s jailbreak I’m just hoping it’s untethered and legal. I do understand why no one is going to jailbreak 4.0.1
however if they do I would save ur shsh with tinyumbrella so if for some reason they do release it for 4.0 after 4.0.1 comes out you can do that jazz and be good
