Fox News conducted an interview with the CEO of Adobe: Shantanu Narayen. The main focus of the interview was Adobe’s launch of Creative Suite 5, but during the interview Narayen confirmed that a mobile version of flash would be launched for Android, Palm, and RIM in the second half of 2010. Noticeably (although not surprisingly) absent is Flash’s availability on the iPhone OS. Narayen comments on this, saying that Apple has made the wrong decision, and that this hurts the consumer in the end.

Narayen goes on in the interview mentioning that the Flash Player has been updated, which will allow developers more insight into what customers are viewing.

I for one am very excited for the second half of 2010. Mobile Flash could give operating systems such as Android, Palm, and RIM the edge they need to severely hurt iPhone sales. Not only will the inclusion of Flash allow the viewing of flash content on webpages, Shantanu also states that applications for mobile will be able to be created as well. This would bring a whole slew of new, awesome applications to all three of these operating systems.

Flash Mobile is just one of the great reasons to be a non-iPhone conformist. If this catches on, Apple may have no choice but to loosen up that closed, proprietary operating system they so dearly love.

What are your thoughts? Will Flash Mobile be a game changer? Should Apple take note and allow Flash? Will Android, Palm and RIM sales skyrocket? Tell us in the comments below!

Well apparently it can handle it, it might not be able to multitask as much apps as the 3GS can, but the awesome thing is it can be done. Looks like my mom will be able to keep her 3G with T-Mobile and now multitasking

An TUAW informant has slipped us some video showcasing a new application built into iPhone OS 4.0. Apparently bundled with iPods and iPhones, the new application transforms the iPhone screen into a simple remote control which is used to manipulate a menu system that’s fed out via a video lead. That menu system was captured in the recording shown at the top of this post.
Our source says that information bundled into the application shows that Apple intends this new “iPod out” functionality to be used in automobiles using the iPod Accessory Protocol (IAP). Hints as to this use are found in strings within the application itself. These strings include IAPSimpleRemoteCarButtonNotification and IAPSimpleRemoteCarButtonTypeKey.

He suggests that the application might be used in an Apple-branded car kit, where the user docks his iPhone or iPod touch and gains full access to the onboard audio libraries (no video at this time). The car kit could include both a video screen to show the menus and custom physical buttons that would produce the notifications to allow the user to move through those menus, and select from them.

Other hints in the application point to hands-free phone integration as well (kCTCallStatusChangeNotification). Incoming phone calls would be routed into the same system, allowing users to answer calls without having to pick up their device.

I am not sure why you would want to ruin a perfectly good iPad by running Windows 95 on it, but the video above from Pavel Egorkin, a Russian social gaming developer, appears to show just such a hack. Impressive since the iPad jailbreak has yet to be released. Or maybe fake. You be the judge.

Windows 95 definitely does not look touch-friendly from the looks of this video. Why not go for the Windows XP Tablet Edition?

Apple decided not to allow Dashboard apps on its iPad App Store in the end, apparently for “contradicting the iPad’s user experience”.

While it’s unfortunate, one of these Dashboard app developers (possibly the most interesting one) has chosen not to let his work go to waste and published the source code of his app on Github (link). This way, those of you with developer accounts should be able to compile and install his app on your iPad despite Apple’s decision. Furthermore, it will also be made available via Cydia as soon as the iPad jailbreak goes public. All of this completely for free.

Why is this one so interesting? Well, it’s actually a port of Mac OS X’s standard dashboard and it lets you directly install some of the available widgets on Apple’s website, neat right?

Check it out (youtube link):
