Jay “saurik” Freeman has been hard at work on what he calls a “full package index:” a centralized database of Cydia packages. One of the first features based on this fundamental restructuring is now live on Cydia’s homepage: the new “Manage Account” option. Finally, there’s a simple way to determine what you’ve purchased on the Cydia Store, giving you a quick and easy way to re-install your apps, tweaks, and themes after a restore.

There are some caveats to be aware of. First off, if you had originally purchased your package through RockYourPhone, it may or may not show up in your “Installable Purchases” list unless you’ve explicitly linked the two accounts. As saurik says, he “tried very hard to automatically connect together accounts ‘as if by magic’ sometimes you will need to manually associate your Rock account.” There’s buttons on all apps that were on Rock enabling this, but if you haven’t taken the opportunity to do so yet, you can use the Transfer Rock Licenses page on Cydia to link your accounts.

Also, if you’re one of the many humans in the 21st century who has both a Facebook and a Google account, be aware that you may have used one or the other – or both – to log into Cydia in the past. Remember that Cydia only uses Amazon and PayPal accounts for payment authorization, not login. And furthermore, any item that uses its own payment system outside of Cydia won’t show up on the list, even though it may be marked “Package Already Purchased” on its product page.

This is all part of a revamping of Cydia that will be ongoing. With the proliferation of packages, the default repositories have inevitably gotten a lot of corrupt or damaged package files. One positive side effect of the new index is that those files have gotten weeded out. Jay’s continuing his efforts to make a Cydia that works for everybody, and if you appreciate what he’s done, you might consider making a donation on PayPal.

Li-ion

An impressive Windows 7 theme for your iPhone, in HD. We are really only a short while into the release of WP7 from Microsoft, and Li-ion has already managed to bring us some retina eye candy. for the iDevice. (Bring on the “Why would I want my iPhone to look like a Windows Phone…”)

Li-ion suggests using Multifl0w, as the built-in switcher doesnt quite cut it. You can use Activator to change the button mapping for double-pressing home to easily replace it all together.

The theme requires the use of Summberboard mode, which can cause a lot of memory usage, but if your on an iPhone 4, clearly you can afford some extra memory to enjoy this theme.

Li-ion is continuing to work on new icons, layouts, and UISounds, so keep your eyes peeled on this one.

http://modmyi.com/forums/iphone-4-ne…hone-7-hd.html

BlueBird HD
redesigned by FreeApple

Once a classic theme for the original iPhone 3G(S) by David Lanham , comes a newly designed update from FreeApple, who has gotten full permission to bring the HD goodness to us all.

FreeApple promises to deliver a complete theme with the usual frostings; complete icons (using the masking method), animations for the lock screen as well as built in widgets.

Now available in Cydia for $1.99

http://modmyi.com/forums/iphone-4-ne…luebirdhd.html

Here is a little bonus “theme” for the week. Keeping with the Christmas spirit, here is a nice animated lockscreen for the season. You can set the lockscreen to any background you want, or if your not that keen, here is the one seen in the video.

With an incredible response from the MMi community, the votes have been tallied and Elite Pro HD has kicked some serious butt this week.

Elite Pro HD
barsoverbeats

Elite Pro HD, designed by barsoverbeats, features a completely customized winterboard theme that will transform almost every piece of your iOS 4.1 System on retina displays. As usual your AppStore icons will automatically be created.

Utilizing the 4.1 update, this theme allows for Retina Display versions of the User Interface graphics, creating a very sharp result.

The theme also features a weather widget, an animated lockscreen theme, custom UI sounds, and a handful of other customizing options. Of course, this theme also comes packed with extras, including PSD Templates allowing you to further edit the theme to your liking.

Elite Pro HD is available in Cydia for $2.99.

Discuss this theme in our forums.

Nick’s Pick
Suave HD
Thyraz (Retina-fied by pat974)

Suave is a theme that has been around since 2008, a rather popular choice for iPhone users. Originally created by Thyraz, pat974 has recreated the theme to be compatible with Retina displays, and I gotta say, it looks pretty damn good.

While this doesn’t include a massive UI overhaul, the retina icons are worth it on their own.

Download Suave HD for FREE :

Themes have been a very common reason for Jailbreaking. Ever since 1.1.4 I remember having themes. However, if you want to refrain from jailbreaking, or you are waiting for a 4.1 jailbreak (iPhone 4) you can still change your app’s ugly icon using iPhone Explorer.

The program, iPhone Explorer is cross platform, therefore it will work on Windows and Mac. The only components needed is an iPhone, USB cable, computer, and some basic photoshop (or paint) knowledge.

To begin:

Open iPhone Explorer on your PC or Mac, connect your iPhone or iPod and navigate into the app’s folder, located in
/Apps/appname.app/appname.app.app
(where
appname
is the name of the app you want to change and
device name
is the name of your device). In that folder, find the png file for the app, named something like
icon@2x.png
for an iPhone 4, or
Icon.png
for iPhone 3GS and below. Back up the original icon (unless you are a daredevil) and replace it with your own icon (you can usually find some good icons around sites like Iconspedia). Make sure the icon is in PNG format and is 114×114 pixels for the iPhone 4, 57×57 for the iPhone 3GS and earlier. After a quick reboot, your icons should be changed!

Note that this only works with 3rd party apps from the App Store, not apps that come on your device. Sadly, jailbreaking is required to change your stock icons.

Post some comments displaying icons you’ve created!

We all have them; apps that we rely so much on that our iDevices become near impossible to use without. Here are some of mine, and why. I’m not including cydia, because that’s a bit too obvious. And, chances are, if you’re reading this then you don’t need me to talk about it

SbSettings

This is, for me, the main reason I jailbreak. It provides quick and easy toggles from anywhere. Everything from brightness to wifi. It’s awesome. The fact that it can be themed is also a nice addition.

Winterboard

Complete theming of your idevice. Everything from icons to a background to fonts to sounds. If you can imagine it getting changed then, chances are, winterboard is able to change it. Only the wallpaper can be changed in OS 4. It’s good to see the jailbreak community bettering what apple can do.

Backgrounder

Yet again the jailbreak community is literally years ahead of apple. We’ve had backgrounding for months and months now; they haven’t implemented a full solution yet. Plus, backgrounder works on *all* devices, not just the ipad and 3gs. Backgrounding, for those who don’t know, is simply allowing an app (eg an IM app) to continue running in the background. I use this A LOT. When I’m on msn I like to check my facebook and twitter. Without backgrounder I’d have to log out then log back in every time I wanted to do that. Don’t listen to the lies apple spread about how is seriously affects your battery life. I have the ipt1g and it doesn’t

Rotation inhibitor

A photo isn’t really needed for this. Basically it’s and sbsettings toggle to stop rotation. What possible use is there for it I hear you ask. Well, I use it when using an iDevice in bed. Also, lounging by the pool on your side.

These are my must have apps. My iPod without them simply isn’t the same. Check them out; all are available through cydia.

I’m interested; What are your must have apps?

This tutorial will teach you how to create an icon(s) from pictures/screenshots in your camera roll! For the purpose of this guide, I will show you how to change the icon for the app iRetouch, which you need to install to do this. It is easy to do after you have done it once and you will be able to amaze people by quickly making their face, or any pic an app icon on your springboard! Required apps: iFile, iRetouch, Winterboard.

Step 1. Install iFile from Cydia. This app is free to use, but premium features require a paid registration. This app will allow you to browse and edit your device’s file system as the Root user.

Step 2. Install iRetouch, this is available on the App Store. It is a paid app, but there is a light version. This is an easy to use photo editor that can re-size images and save back to your photo library. I prefer this app over PSMobile for editing and resizing on the go!

Step 3. Open iFile and navigate to /var/stash/Themes or /Library/Themes. Hit edit, then touch the plus sign at the bottom left. This will create a new file or directory. Name it whatever you want, for this example, name it “NEW.theme”, and go to the “Type” field and select “Directory”. Then hit “Create”. Then open this folder, and hit “edit” and the plus sign again and create another directory file and call it “Icons”.

Step 4. Take a screenshot (home and power button at the same time) of the app iRetouch while open, the springboard, or take a photo that you will use for an icon.

Step 5. Open iRetouch, select Touch-up Tools and find the image you want to use, it will be the most recent image in “Camera Roll”. Hit the image that looks like a cloverleaf in the sidebar and hit any of the ratios (640, 800, 1024). They will change the dimensions of the image and bring up a slider to scale it down. Slide the size down. Try to get the aspect as close to Apple standard of 55×55 as possible. Hit “Photo” then “Save(smaller ratio)”.

Step 6. Go back to iFile and navigate to /var/mobile/media/DCIM/100APPLE. The last photo you edited should be last on the list. Hit edit then “copy link” the file and navigate back to /var/stash/Themes/NEW.theme/Icons. Select “edit” again and then “paste”.

Step 7. Rename the icon you just moved to “iRetouch.png”. Be careful of case, and be sure to change the “.JPG” to “.png”. The case-sensitive filesystem recognizes .JPG file extension in capital letters and .png in lowercase. Be sure to rename the original photo to “.png” or it will not work!

Step 8. Go to Winterboard and drag “NEW” to the top and re-spring, you should have a new icon!

Step 9. Repeat steps 4-7 to create icons for as many apps as you like, just copy/link, paste into the Icons folder in NEW.theme. Remember to be precise with the case and app names. The appname.png should look exactly like the icon’s label in springboard, eg. “fring”=”fring.png”.

I hope this post helped you personalize your iPhone, or really amaze someone by taking a pic of their face and quickly making it an app icon! if you are new to editing files on your device, look for “iFile 101″, coming soon! If you liked this tutorial, or need help with this mod, find me on Twitter @xsn0w! Enjoy your one of a kind icon(s)!

This is a great addon to a great theme, Suave. Suave is a theme designed by Thyraz, over at MacThemes.net, which is a fantastic resource for WinterBoard Themes.

Hey all! I decided to do several recolors of the default Suave badge icon (originally made by thyraz)

To use, simply rename the one you would like to use to SBBadgeBG and place it inTheme\Bundles\com.apple.springboard and respring for it to take effect.

*All icons shown above are made by either thyraz or members of MacThemes. I did not create any of the icons, nor the SBBadgeBG. I simply recolored it.*

If you have any questions, leave a comment below! Hope you enjoy!
