Jailbreak apps i can’t live without
We all have them; apps that we rely so much on that our iDevices become near impossible to use without. Here are some of mine, and why. I’m not including cydia, because that’s a bit too obvious. And, chances are, if you’re reading this then you don’t need me to talk about it
SbSettings
This is, for me, the main reason I jailbreak. It provides quick and easy toggles from anywhere. Everything from brightness to wifi. It’s awesome. The fact that it can be themed is also a nice addition.
Winterboard
Complete theming of your idevice. Everything from icons to a background to fonts to sounds. If you can imagine it getting changed then, chances are, winterboard is able to change it. Only the wallpaper can be changed in OS 4. It’s good to see the jailbreak community bettering what apple can do.
Backgrounder
Yet again the jailbreak community is literally years ahead of apple. We’ve had backgrounding for months and months now; they haven’t implemented a full solution yet. Plus, backgrounder works on *all* devices, not just the ipad and 3gs. Backgrounding, for those who don’t know, is simply allowing an app (eg an IM app) to continue running in the background. I use this A LOT. When I’m on msn I like to check my facebook and twitter. Without backgrounder I’d have to log out then log back in every time I wanted to do that. Don’t listen to the lies apple spread about how is seriously affects your battery life. I have the ipt1g and it doesn’t
Rotation inhibitor
A photo isn’t really needed for this. Basically it’s and sbsettings toggle to stop rotation. What possible use is there for it I hear you ask. Well, I use it when using an iDevice in bed. Also, lounging by the pool on your side.
These are my must have apps. My iPod without them simply isn’t the same. Check them out; all are available through cydia.
I’m interested; What are your must have apps?

Read MoreHow to Easily Create Icons Using iFile and iRetouch!
This tutorial will teach you how to create an icon(s) from pictures/screenshots in your camera roll! For the purpose of this guide, I will show you how to change the icon for the app iRetouch, which you need to install to do this. It is easy to do after you have done it once and you will be able to amaze people by quickly making their face, or any pic an app icon on your springboard! Required apps: iFile, iRetouch, Winterboard.
Step 1. Install iFile from Cydia. This app is free to use, but premium features require a paid registration. This app will allow you to browse and edit your device’s file system as the Root user.
Step 2. Install iRetouch, this is available on the App Store. It is a paid app, but there is a light version. This is an easy to use photo editor that can re-size images and save back to your photo library. I prefer this app over PSMobile for editing and resizing on the go!
Step 3. Open iFile and navigate to /var/stash/Themes or /Library/Themes. Hit edit, then touch the plus sign at the bottom left. This will create a new file or directory. Name it whatever you want, for this example, name it “NEW.theme”, and go to the “Type” field and select “Directory”. Then hit “Create”. Then open this folder, and hit “edit” and the plus sign again and create another directory file and call it “Icons”.

As requested, here is info.plist to change the color of the numbers that appear within the badges to white.
info.plistHey all! I decided to do several recolors of the default Suave badge icon (originally made by thyraz)
To use, simply rename the one you would like to use to SBBadgeBG and place it inTheme\Bundles\com.apple.springboard and respring for it to take effect.
*All icons shown above are made by either thyraz or members of MacThemes. I did not create any of the icons, nor the SBBadgeBG. I simply recolored it.*

Classica 2 – Revitalize Your Default Icons
Seeing as we all love to personalize our phones, I’m going to try and push out some theme recommendations when we can. I’ll try to cover all the devices but for the most part, I’ll be covering iPhone/iPod Touch themes that can be applied via WinterBoard.
First up, Classica 2, designed by Dustin Schau. Classica 2 is the second series of “default improvements” of Apple’s default icons. This time around, the canvas is 59×60, so mix and match as you please with the defaults and/or other default styled themes.
Download Classica 2 from Dustin’s Website.
