Setup Push Hotmail on your iPhone [Guide]

Microsoft has finally announced that starting today Hotmail will support push email, calendar and contacts with Exchange ActiveSync (EAS).

Hotmail users will be able to sync their email, calendar, and contacts to their iPhone using Exchange ActiveSync. So any changes made on the iPhone will be reflected on the web interface, and vice versa.

Dick Craddock from Windows Live Blog explained this briefly :

Hotmail is making it easier for you to stay up-to-date and be productive on your phone. Starting today, you can get your email, calendar, and contacts pushed automatically to your phone using Exchange ActiveSync (EAS). EAS keeps everything in sync between your phone and Hotmail, so whatever you do on your phone, like delete an email, add an appointment, or update one of your contacts with a new number, will also be reflected on the web, and vice-versa. If you use an email client on your PC that already syncs with Hotmail, like Outlook with the Outlook Connector or Windows Live Mail, what you do on your phone will show up there as well, delivering a seamless experience for managing your stuff between your PC email client, your browser, and your phone.

These are instructions on how to setup push Hotmail using ActiveSync on your iPhone or iPod touch. After doing this you will automatically be notified when a new email arrives rather then waiting for a scheduled check.

Step one :

Tap to open Settings from your iPhone springboard.

Step two :

Tap to select Mail,Contacts,Calendars from the Settings menu.

Step three :

Tap Add Account.

Step four :

Select Microsoft Exchange from the list of account types.

Step five :

Enter your full hotmail email address for the Email and Username fields then fill in your password. Tap the Next button at the top right of the screen to continue.

Step six :

Input m.hotmail.com as the server address and tap the Next button.

Step seven :

Use the switches to select which items you would like to sync and tap the Save button.

That’s it, you’re all set for push email, calendar and contacts for your Hotmail account. As always, do let us know how it goes in the comments section below.

iPhodroid for Windows : It’s almost here.

Most of us already know iPhodroid, the Android OS port to the iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G by @planetbeing, the guy behind the iPhone 4 unlock.

Planetbeing ported the Android OS to the iPhone 2G and 3G, but in the earlier stages the end users needed to go through plenty of ugly coding in order to get it running on their iPhones. The source code for iPhodroid was released to public for someone to take over the project make required changes in order to make it easier for non-developers. @Sergiomcfly took over and developed an app that dual booted iPhones and made the port easier.

Many of you guys must have tried it, but it was limited to Mac users until earlier today when Sergio Mcfly announced on his twitter saying he was to release the tool for Windows users next week. Sergio said :

iPhodroid for Windows available next week. Have a nice weekend ;-)

The wait for Windows users ends here. We will, of course, update you once the Windows version is released.

Update 1 :  The Windows version of iPhodroid was to be released today but wasn’t because of Windows 7 64bit architecture as it is tough get past the running DLL without the certificates. Sergio posted :

Update 2 : We know plenty of you have been waiting for this ever since it was announced. Well then wait no more. The iPhodroid Windows version has finally been released. It’s a one shot install or run.

You can visit iPhodroid to download the Windows version.

Step 2: Now start iTunes and sync your iPhone with your PC or Mac so that it backs-up all your important data including settings, apps, music, contacts and photos.

[How-To] Jailbreak iOS 4.0.2 for iPhone 3G, iPod 2G with Redsn0w

Last week Apple released iOS 4.0.2 which was merely a patch to block the recently created http://jailbreakme.com, however, interestingly enough, they did not fix the redsn0w exploit for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G. So if you own an iPhone 3G or an iPod 2G all you need to do is simply use the lastest release of Redsn0w 0.9.5-b5 beta. This release will also hacktivate your iPhone 3G on 4.0.2, if you have not already been activated using iTunes.

If you require an unlock simply install ultrasn0w.

Requirements:

  • Redsn0w Tool from Dev-Team

For Windows –  Download here

For Mac OS    –  Download here
