The Top Five Most Used Jailbreak Apps

The folks over at the ModMyi forums have composed a great list of their top five most used Cydia/Rock applications. Nickhesson (username) compiled the list by “Asking each of the staff members their top picks, I will list the apps from the most common first, and then I’ll show each staff member’s top picks.” Anyhow, here are the top five most used jailbreak apps by the peeps at ModMyi:

1. MyWi 4.0

AT&T iPhone exclusivity at an end?

In it’s latest filing with the S.E.C (the Security and Exchange Commission) AT&T mentioned that many of its “exclusivity arrangements” are ending and that they hope to keep costumers “by providing incentives not to move to a new carrier”. Steven Fox, and analyst at CLSA, says:

“Disclosure from AT&T’s 10Q filing late Friday (6 August) suggests AT&T is preparing investors for its iPhone exclusivity to come to an end… Importantly, such language was not found in AT&T’s prior 10Q filings. We continue to think Apple is likely to add Verizon by early 2011, which is not fully contemplated in our model.”

Like Fox, many believe that these words, along with the arrival of the news of huge orders of CDMA chips being placed, are proof of a Verizon iPhone. What do you guys think, is big red getting an iPhone anytime soon?

Fix Bluetooth Woes: how to force the soft. keyboard to re-appear

From Flickr User: aallan

If you use your iPad with a bluetooth keyboard often, you’ve probably found yourself angrily tapping the heck out of the address bar in Safari because you just remembered that you left your bluetooth keyboard on in the other room. Now, your stuck with a keyboard-less iPad and you have to get up from the couch, take 8 steps you’ll never get back, and turn off the bluetooth keyboard.

However,  Erica Sadun from TUAW decided she had lost one step too many and came up with a simple solution you can get right off Cydia:

I’ve posted a little utility, which I call KeysPlease over on my website (direct application link) and on the ModMyI repository (thanks, Kyle!). I’ve added it to my iPad dock, and now when I’m in the wrong room I just tap the app icon to retrieve my soft keyboard.

So if you’ve found the lack of a soft keyboard while connected to a bluetooth keyboard annoying, go ahead and search for KeysPlease on Cydia; your iPad’s url bar will thank you.
