Is Apple’s response to signal losses good enough?
Let’s face it. If you read jailbreaknews then you’ve heard about the problem where holding the iPhone in a certain way drops the calls. Chances are it short circuits the antenna, losing signal. Job’s response?
“Just avoid holding it in that way”
Now, you see, the fanboys have rallied behind Jobs on this, saying that holding the iPhone in the bottom left is stupid. I couldn’t disagree more. . If I am shelling out $$$$$$ for an expensive device I want it to work no matter how I hold it. Apple’s response to this is frankly stupid. Please don’t tell me how to hold a device apple.
Also, chances are apple knew about the problem. They’ve pushed the bumpers (which solve the issue) pretty hard. Or am I just being cynical? There are also reports of yellowing screens and inversed volume keys. Did apple rush to get this phone out in time?
However, there is a rumour that apple will be releasing ios 4.0.1 soon that will fix this issue, although that hasn’t been confirmed yet.

This is a post I’ve been asked to write via email. There is a lot of confusion regarding the jailbreakability of certain devices due to the ios4 update. Here’s a quick guide of what can be jailbroken.
Don’t update itunes to 9.2 is you want spirit to work!!!
So far the iPhone dev team have released redsn0w. This works for the iPhone3g and iPod touch 2g.
They have stated that they will release pwnagetool that will jailbreak most devices on iOs 4. However, until it is released, we can’t say for certain what devices it will support. Check back often, I’ll update this once they release PwnageTool.

It doesn’t support any ipod touches (yet). It supports iPhones (most). However, there are several scenarios. Check their blog for details for your scenario

iPhone 4 sold unlocked in UK
The apple site has announced that the iphone 4 will be sold unlocked here in the UK. At the time of writing the only other countries that we know that have this are Ireland and Canada. There’s no word about the US yet.
This would mean that travelling abroad would be easier with an iPhone, as customers wouldn’t have to pay the excessive roaming rates (sometimes up to $ 0.75 a text!!) This makes the iPhone more accessible to those who travel a lot or those business-y types.
However, rest of the world….don’t fear!! musclenerd of the iPhone dev team has tweeted saying that they may have an exploit for an unlock, which would free it from AT&T, making the iPhone more attractive to many users.

Excited for WWDC?
The WWDC is just round the corner people. We’ve already had predictions over what will be revealed; which may be on the money.

How to restore to 3.1.3 without updating baseband
I’ve stumbled upon a which I feel it’d be best if more people knew about it. It’s written by musclenerd, one of the most prominent members of the iPhone dev-team so you know it’s not a fake.
It’s a guide for how to restore to 3.1.3 from an iPhone 3GS stuck at the infinite reboot or in recovery mode without your SHSH blobs saved.
It’s a bit technical so I wouldn’t recommend it but chances are if you’re reading jailbreaknews you will be fine
