Cydia Coming To The Mac!

Apple is busily working to bring the App Store to the Mac and now Saurik has announced that he will be bringing Cydia to the Mac as well.
According to TUAW, Saurik presented at 360|MacDev giving an overview of his upcoming jailbreak store for Mac OS X, Cycript, and Cydia Substrate.
Currently, Cydia Installer has been used by about 10% of all iPhone users, or about 10 million devices. There are well over 30,000 packages available for iOS, and a lot of open source material can be downloaded from Cydia. He refers to Cydia as a store for things that are not apps, but extensions of what iOS devices can do.
Freeman felt that the same type of store would be useful for Mac OS X devices; the result is a Mac Cydia, which will be available “within weeks.” With today’s news that the Mac App Store will not support in-app purchases, something that is critical to the freemium app model that is so successful in the iOS world, a Mac Cydia might be just the web store for a number of Mac developers.
Those developers interested in getting their app on the Cydia Store for Mac can contact contact patrick at saurikit.com.

Read MoreVLC Remote App Review
I recently downloaded the VLC Remote app from the Apple App store, I opened it up and there was no set up required (if you already have the VLC application installed on your computer). So I opened up the VLC application on my computer and my iPod Touch, both have to be connected to the same wi-fi network. So I tried it out and it stayed connected to my computer the whole time and had a fast response time to the controls I inputted from my iPod Touch to my computer.
Bottom Line:
I personally think it worked better than the “Remote” App by Apple. It stayed connected the whole time and had a fast response time from when I inputted the controls from my iPod sent to my computer. Also has a very easy to use interface.

Review of Game Center Application in iOS 4.1

I have recently upgraded my os to the latest 4.1 and in doing so I have acquired Game Center.
Game Center is a new Application Apple has developed to incorporate gaming into their 3 iOS devices (the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch). It allows you to earn achievements in their limited variety of games available on the App store. It also allows you to invite and accept friend requests. What I wish to see in the future is more available games that incorporate Game Center into them and an even easier interface since I think Game Center is mainly going to cater to younger children or teens.
The Disappearing Icon Glitch in iOS 4.1

In the recent installment of iOS 4.1, it appears that there may be a small glitch in the firmware relating to icons. On your home-screen icons can disappear leaving only the title of the Application. While scrolling through various pages on the device, a user may experience an issues where Icons begin to disappear.
For me I would flick through my pages of apps and every time I would flick to a new page of apps a random app’s icon on that page would be missing.
After all is said and done, a simple restore will correct the problem. Fire up iTunes and let it do it’s business. If anyone can get the problem to repeat, or correct it without restoring, drop us a note.
